COLLABORATING FOR NATIONWIDE REEF MONITORING
At Six Senses Laamu, the program’s surveys focus on reef fish and invertebrate abundance and diversity, as well as benthic composition, including coral diseases and bleaching. This data helps the team track both positive and negative changes in the reef ecosystem.

CORAL BLEACHING IN LAAMU
Coral bleaching endangers the fragile ecosystems of the reefs of Laamu Atoll in the Maldives. The turquoise seas and teeming marine life of the Maldives atolls are, the atolls are especially vulnerable to the effects of rising ocean temperatures and environmental pressures.

With many months of planning the team were excited to set off on the 21st April with a team of 12 individuals from MUI, as well as Secret Paradise, Mundoo Council, Maavah Council, the EPA and Mundoo Community.
